We are standing up in support of Verizon Workers who are out on strike against a company that is attempting to take away their bargained for rights.
Some 45,000 Verizon workers are on strike throughout the Northeast. The members of the Communications Workers of America (CWA) and the Electrical Workers (IBEW) have played by the rules, but Verizon wants to break them. The corporation earned $32.5 billion in revenue over the past three years, yet is demanding pay and benefit cuts that total $1 billion.
Meanwhile, elected politicians are ignoring working families’ No. 1 priority—jobs and the economy—to deliver political payback to the CEOs and corporations that bankrolled them into office. With members of Congress in their home districts for recesses and state legislatures out of session, voters are holding these politicians accountable for their actions and positions on working family issues.
